This summer has been one for the books in the Lakes Region. The area saw a substantial increase in tourist activity as we continue to bounce back from the lull of the pandemic. We were also blessed with beautiful weather, making it a great year for boating on the Lake, hiking, and enjoying all the other outdoor activities that make this area so popular.
Gunstock, a year-round destination for outdoor activities, had a full summer of activities, including Tree Top Tours, Ziplining, the Mountain Coaster, and so much more, capped off by the very popular Food Truck Festival this past week. Local businesses, including restaurants, shops, and hotels, experienced a boom in activity, with many reporting higher-than-expected revenue.
The successful tourist season is a testament to the resilience and appeal of the Lakes Region. After the challenges of recent years, the community’s ability to attract and accommodate visitors from across the country is a positive sign for the local economy. This influx of tourists not only boosts revenue but also showcases the beauty and charm of the region, leaving a lasting impression on all who visit.
The summer of 2024 was also marked by a stellar lineup of concerts at the Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion, the biggest they’ve had on record, a highlight of the season for both locals and visitors. The venue, nestled in the heart of the Lakes Region, can host over 9,000 concertgoers, played host to a diverse range of artists, drawing music lovers from far and wide. From country legends to rock icons, the Pavilion provided unforgettable nights under the stars. The venue is a major economic engine that provided a steady stream of concertgoers into our hotels, restaurants, and attractions. A huge economic benefit to the Lakes Region.
As we move into fall, children are buzzing with excitement as they prepare to go back to school. Tourists and locals alike are ready for the changing foliage, fall hikes on crisp mornings, and pumpkin-flavored everything. Farmers markets, fall festivals, including the ever-popular Pumpkin Festival, and so many more activities that keep the Lakes Region buzzing right into the Fall.
The Lakes Region has continued to be a highly desirable destination for real estate purchases as well. Whether it’s a second home or you’ve decided to make New Hampshire your full-time home, real estate continues to be in demand. The combination of a picturesque setting and a quality lifestyle continues to attract buyers, both locally and out-of-state.
Looking ahead, the forecast for the fall housing market remains positive, though it may cool slightly as the season changes. Inventory levels are expected to rise as the average days on market continue ticking up, offering more choices for potential buyers. However, with interest rates still playing a crucial role, buyers and sellers alike will need to stay informed and agile. A potential rate cut by the Fed in September could play a key role in the upcoming season. Local real estate professionals anticipate a steady market, with continued interest in the region’s unique properties throughout the Lakes Region.
As summer fades into fall, the Lakes Region bids farewell to another season of sun-soaked days and bustling activity. Now, we welcome fall as we anticipate the crisp morning air and the burst of colors that will soon blanket the landscape. Goodbye Summer, Hello Fall.
