Despite minus 7 degrees with 30 mph winds on January 6th, the “Celebrity Bartender” fundraising event held at Faro’s Italian Grille was a huge success! The “Celebrity Bartender” (John Ganong of Roche Realty Group) and Dr. Dave Denofrio (of Tufts Medical Center in Boston) couldn’t believe the turnout for this event. John was nervous about the extreme weather… and had wondered if he should postpone it a week, but instead packed Faro’s restaurant to standing room only! The event was a huge success and donations continue to come in. John would like to offer a special thanks Richard Ray of Faro’s Restaurant (pictured here with John), for doing such a great job. The tips that Ganong collected that evening (in addition to all donations) will benefit patients at the Cardiac Transplant Division at Tufts Medical Center in Boston. Over the last 7 years, this fundraiser has raised over $21,000 and counting from the generous tips and auction items donated by wonderful people and businesses in the Lakes Region.
John started this event 7 years ago after receiving a heart transplant, in appreciation for his gift of life and the excellent care provided by the doctors and staff at the Cardiac Division (Pratt 8) at Tufts Medical Center. With his new lease on life, John Ganong is convinced that he is “the luckiest guy you’ve ever met.”
