Holderness remains a lakeside community to NH’s second largest lake, Squam. Squam Lake includes 6,755 acres of water area with 67 islands to explore. It is blessed with natural beauty which has been protected and preserved through the years. Its pace is leisurely and its people are friendly. It is best known for the 1980’s film “On Golden Pond”. This area is also home to the Squam Lake Science Center, with its unique outdoor classroom for all ages. The center includes exhibit trails and features native NH animals in their natural environment. The town is conveniently located off of route I-93 and is within close proximity to Plymouth State University; with many cultural and educational opportunities available. Holderness School – a private school, is located within the community. Major Ski Areas are within a 30 minute drive.
