Gilmanton, NH Town Profile & Lifestyle Comparison
Incorporated in 1727, Gilmanton is a classic New England village. Large in geographical area, it includes three villages: Gilmanton Corners, Gilmanton Iron Works and Lower Gilmanton. Gilmanton Corners is a true “Currier and Ives” setting – with its large, white historical homes gracing the gradual approach into the village, it is a gem of its kind. The huge old Church, The Gilmanton Academy where Emerson attended school, the 1793 Tavern with its 18th century wall stencils and the village store, bring much history to this historic community.
